We are pleased to announce the German translation of Intimacy & Desire: Awaken the Passion in Your Relationship by Dr. David Schnarch will be released February 21, 2011 by Klett-Cotta Verlag.
Klett-Cotta Verlag published the hardback German translation of Passionate Marriage in 2004, which has been a best-seller ever since. Passionate Marriage is also published in softback by Piper Verlag, now in its 9th printing.
The release of Intimacy & Desire will be accompanied by a three-week promotional tour and multi-city workshop and lecture series by Dr. Schnarch, geared towards both the general public and German therapists and health-care professionals.
Intimacy & Desire is an easy-to-read cross-over book, designed for both audiences. It's for couples and singles looking for help with sexual desire problems. It offers practical suggestions, time-tested solutions, and summary points to think about. And it's for therapists wanting a ground-breaking approach to sexual desire integrating modern interpersonal neurobiology. If you want it, all the science is documented in 150+ footnotes and accessable via the textbook-grade index.
In cooperation with Klett-Cotta Verlag

Therapists report sexual desire problems are one of couples’ most difficult issues, and every couple has difficulty with intimacy sooner or later. Effective treatment starts with a great treatment approach like Crucible NeuroBiological Therapy™ and skill and experience in applying it. Neurobiologists have studied mind-mapping for two decades, but application in therapy is new. Interpersonal neurobiology and mindfulness are hot topics , but practical neuroplastic applications of the inter-connection of mind, brain, body and relationship are rare.
This four-day workshop gives you a tool chest of time-proven clinical interventions for sexual desire problems that enhance differentiation and resolve relationship issues. You will also learn body-oriented prescriptions that:
- create somatosensory “moments of meeting,”
- enhance emotional self-regulation and
- harness neuroplastic training.
You will learn how to use these tools for greatest impact and bring brain-change technology to your therapy. This workshop series will focus on sexual desire problems, but what you will learn is applicable to conducting couples therapy in general.
This program combines the fine art of psychotherapy, sophisticated systemic therapy, and cutting-edge neuroscience. Crucible Therapy is the first systemic sex-and-relationship therapy based on differentiation, with thirty years of clinical experience behind it.
This practice-oriented four day program focuses on clinical application of the Crucible Approach to sexual desire and intimacy problems, and couples therapy in general. It will be presented by Dr. David Schnarch, internationally-recognized expert on sex and relationships and founder of the Crucible Approach.
This workshop is based on case-examples, and includes a live clinical demonstration by Dr. Schnarch. Participants can submit their own case for possible inclusion in the clinical portion. Three days of small-group training focuses on practical aspects of doing therapy. Here participants learn about treating sexual desire and intimacy problems, and how Crucible Therapy in general is conducted. This unique approach, rooted in differentiation, differs from conventional psychotherapy in intensity, speed, and depth. The therapy subtleties you will learn can improve your effectiveness with all your clients.
Group size is limited, so register early to insure a space for yourself. Don't be miss out on this exciting program.
What you will learn
Day 1 lays down the pedigogy for the subsequent three days. It is conducted in large group format, allowing some clinicians to register for just one day. The general public is also invited. The format is dynamic lecture presentations by Dr. Schnarch, augmented with Powerpoint slides and audio-visuals.
Clinical Days 2, 3 and 4 build on Day 1. The format is highly experiential, interactive and participatory. Content focuses on clinical application and conducting treatment. Attending the clinical portion of the workshop (Days 2-4) requires attending Day 1.
