Book coverIntroducing the Crucible Interpersonal Neurobiology Workshop Series! A complete program of training for mental health professionals offering unique ways to harness modern brain science in clinical practice.

The holy grail of modern psychotherapy is brain-changing treatment. Do you use brain science in your psychotherapy? Perhaps you're familiar with mindfulness, a common brain-changing method of focusing attention within your own mind.

In contrast, interpersonal neurobiological therapy focuses on powerful mind-shaping and brain-changing processes that constantly occur between people in marriages, families, schools, business and psychotherapy.

2015 Four Day Clinical Workshops for Therapists.

         (SeminarCenter Helmeringen)
  • October 15 in Berlin (Urania Berlin e.V.)

Crucible Mind Mapping Therapy

Workshop Description

This in-depth professional training workshop offers new avenues of healing based on the brain science of mind-mapping. Mind-mapping is the brain's innate ability to make a mental map of another person's mind. Mind-mapping is an interpersonal brain process that profoundly impacts how your brain functions. Mind-mapping has only been researched since the 1980s and its application to psychotherapy is pretty new.

Mind-mapping lets you intuit what other people are thinking and feeling, what they want, and what they are likely to do. Mind Mapping also lets you know yourself and understand your own feelings and motivations. It’s at the heart of self-awareness and introspection

Mind Mapping greatly determines how people act in relationships. Mind-mapping helps you create or improve good things like:

  • Intimacy and sex
  • Effective parenting
  • Effective leadership
  • Teaching and training
  • Empathy and compassion
  • Encouragement and emotional support
  • Pleasant surprise

Mind mapping underlies the worst parts of relationships: People who repeatedly do cruel, unhelpful, disappointing and/or hurtful things succeed because of their mind-mapping ability--rather than their lack of it. This workshop offers new ways of addressing:

  • Lying and deception
  • Manipulation
  • Bullying
  • Emotional abuse
  • Extramarital affairs

This workshop is based on 12 years of clinical innovation and case study research using mind-mapping therapy with highly-troubled clients from around the world. It gives you a functional understanding of interpersonal neurobiology that can make you a better therapist (rather than simply teaching you brain anatomy).

This workshop reveals the phenomena of traumatic mind-mapping (Schnarch, 2009): Successfully mapping out some people's mind traumatizes your mind and negatively impacts your brain! Traumatic mind-mapping is an interpersonal neurobiological process. Treatment based on mind-mapping and traumatic mind-mapping opens the door to brain-based interpersonal neurobiological psychotherapy.

Traumatic mind-mapping dramatically impacts clients and therapists' alike. Every therapist knows what it's like to get "spaghetti brain" from upsetting realizations about your clients or hearing terrible stories of their lives. In addition to focusing on clinical application of mind-mapping in therapy and daily life, this training also help you apply these advances in interpersonal neurobiology to yourself.  You will learn to recognize traumatic mind-mapping and its impacts on your clients, and become more resilient to traumatic mind-mapping in your sessions.

What you will learn

David teachingThis workshop helps you apply brain-based therapy to your current practice. You will leave with new ways of understanding and working with your most difficult clients. It may even transform your personal relationships as well.

“Brain-to-brain therapy”™ leaves behind traditional left-brain techniques like psycho-education, psychodynamic interpretations, or communication skills training. Merely teaching clients that mind mapping exists doesn’t create brain-based therapy, and training for therapists must follow suit.

This workshop is a necessary first step towards learning Crucible® Neurobiological Therapy. In our approach, the mind/brain of the therapist, in connection with clients’ minds/brains, is a primary treatment tool. This workshop emphasizes right-brain learning to prepare you to harness the inherent mind mapping (and traumatic mind mapping) that occurs during sessions.

By attending the 4 Day Crucible® Mind-Mapping Therapy workshop you will learn:

  • A ground-breaking understanding of how mind-mapping shapes daily life, interpersonal relationships and brain function.
  • Mind-mapping therapy: Changes from conventional psychotherapy.
  • Introducing mind-mapping in sessions.
  • Childhood development of mind-mapping ability.
  • Traumatic mind-mapping:Short- and long-term negative brain effects.

Therapists of the future will train their brains for psychotherapy. These workshops emphasize intuitive understanding of mind mapping processes, and developing your mind-brain as a clinical tool through:

  • Clinical case examples.
  • Extensive audio-visual materials.
  • Live clinical demonstration/simulation.
  • Practice using mind mapping in session.
  • Personal application of mind mapping and traumatic mind mapping.
  • Reduce your susceptibility to traumatic mind-mapping while conducting therapy.

Opportunities for clinical practice in this workshop:

  • Identify mind-mapping abilities in clients who hide or deny it.
  • Detect lying and manipulation.
  • Recognize "mind-masking."
  • Identify traumatic mind-mapping in clients' experiences.
Schedule of topics

Please note all times are approximate. Because we are focusing on practical learning, case deconstruction, and participant involvement, everyone benefits from the freedom to pay more attention to some aspects more than others. This may alter the time devoted to each topic.
